If you can't create an incident in Medic52 — the New incident button is missing, or you can see incidents but can't add one — the cause is almost always your Incidents access level at that resort. This article explains how to check it and how a Manager fixes it.
Before you begin
- Only a user with the Manager role can view or change another user's access levels. If you are not a Manager, send this article to your Manager.
- Access levels are set per resort. If you belong to more than one resort, the level at one resort does not carry over to another.
Why can't I create an incident in Medic52?
Every user has an Incidents access level at each resort. Creating an incident needs the User or Admin level. The lower levels let you look but not add:
| Incidents access level | Can see the Incidents list | Can see patient details | Can create and edit incidents |
|---|---|---|---|
| None | No | No | No |
| Read-only No PII | Yes | No | No |
| Read-only | Yes | Yes | No |
| User | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Admin | Yes | Yes | Yes, plus incident configuration |
PII means personally identifiable information — the patient's name, contact details and date of birth.
If your Incidents access level is None, Read-only No PII or Read-only, Medic52 does not show the New incident button on the web, and the mobile app cannot save a new incident for you. Your role (Patroller, Dispatcher or Manager) does not override the Incidents access level — a Manager with a Read-only Incidents level still can't create incidents.
How does a Manager check or change a user's Incidents access level?
A Manager can check and change a user's Incidents access level from the user's profile.
- Log in to the web app at app.medic52.com and make sure the resort selected is the resort where the user needs access.
- In the left menu, go to Configuration > Users.
- Click the user's name to open their profile.
- Go to the Role & permissions section.
- Click Advanced — fine-grained overrides to expand it.
- Under Incidents, select User (or Admin for a Manager).
- Check the other modules in the list — Assets, Trails, Lifts, Controlled Substances, Training Passport, Incident Form Library and Jobs — and set the level the user needs.
- Click Save user.
The user gets the new Incidents access level straight away. On the web, the user may need to refresh the page. In the mobile app, the user may need to sign out and sign back in.
I'm a Manager — why can't I create an incident?
The Manager role controls configuration and user management at a resort; it does not on its own grant access to each module. A Manager whose Incidents access level is None or Read-only can't create incidents. Ask another Manager at your resort to raise your Incidents level to Admin using the steps above, or contact Medic52 support if you are the only Manager.
What else stops me creating an incident?
If your Incidents access level is already User or Admin, check these:
- You're on the wrong resort. If you belong to more than one resort, switch to the resort where you're creating the incident — access levels differ per resort.
- You're not signed in to the mobile app. See How do I create and edit an incident in the mobile app?
