Your data is stored in the region closest to your organisation, and it stays in that region. Medic52 runs on Amazon Web Services in three live regions:
- United States — Oregon (
us-west-2) - Australia — Sydney (
ap-southeast-2) - Canada — Central Canada (
ca-central-1)
When your organisation is set up it is assigned to one of these regions, and all of its incident, patient, and shift records live there. Both the web platform and the mobile app connect to that same regional home, so your data is always handled in the region you were provisioned in.
Why we store data by region
Keeping data in a specific region helps us meet local privacy and record-keeping laws, such as HIPAA in the United States and GDPR-style requirements elsewhere.
