How do I keep my mobile device secure?

As first responders we handle a lot of personal and sensitive information through the patient cycle of care. That information must not be copied or shared without permission, and it must be kept safe. Here are simple steps to protect the device you use for Medic52.

Lock your device

Set a passcode, PIN, or biometric lock (Face ID / fingerprint) on your phone or tablet — and don’t use an obvious code like 0000 or 1234. A locked device is the first barrier if it is lost or left unattended.

Turn on Find My Phone

Most phones have a “find my device” feature from Apple, Google, or your device maker. Turn it on so that if you lose your device you have a chance of locating it — or remotely locking it — again.

Sign out on shared devices

If you use the Medic52 app or web platform on a shared or borrowed device, sign out when you finish so the next person can’t see records under your login. You sign in with your own email and password, and that login is yours alone.

Keep records inside Medic52

Patient photos and witness images captured in the Medic52 app stay inside the app and are uploaded securely to Medic52. Never take information out of Medic52 and post it elsewhere, such as social media or a personal messaging app. Doing so breaks the law and can cost you your job. See How do photos work in the Medic52 app? for why in-app capture matters.
