Your resort's lift and trail status in Medic52 can be published live on your own website, so guests see the same open/closed and difficulty information your team maintains — with no double entry. This article is for a Manager setting that up, and explains how each trail rating's MTN Feed Value controls the difficulty shown on your site.
Before you begin
- Configure your Areas, then create your Lifts and Trails as Assets.
- Set and maintain status from Managing Lift status and Managing Trail status — the live feed publishes exactly what those dashboards show.
- Your website is on WordPress (the plugin below is a WordPress plugin). If your site is not on WordPress, contact Medic52 support to discuss options.
What is the live lift & trail status feed?
The live lift & trail status feed is a web feed Medic52 publishes for your resort. It carries, for every lift and trail, its current open/on-hold/closed status, grooming and night-operation flags, and — for trails — a difficulty. The feed updates automatically whenever your team changes a status in Medic52, so the information on your website stays current on its own.
How do I publish it on my website?
- On your WordPress site, install and activate the Lifts and Trails plugin for WordPress.
- In the plugin's settings, enter your resort's feed address. If you don't have it, contact Medic52 support and we'll provide the address for your resort.
- Add the plugin's block or shortcode to the page where you want live status to appear, then publish the page.
Once connected, the page shows your live lift and trail status and refreshes as the data changes in Medic52 — you don't edit the website again to keep it current.
How does a trail's difficulty show on my website? (MTN Feed Value)
Each trail rating in Medic52 has an MTN Feed Value — the difficulty token sent to your website for trails with that rating. You set it per rating in Configuration > Trail Ratings, on the rating's editor. The available values are:
- Beginner
- Advanced Beginner
- Intermediate
- Advanced Intermediate
- Advanced
- Expert
- None — for ratings that are not a skiable difficulty (for example a terrain park, freestyle area, or an access road). Trails with one of these ratings are published without a difficulty.
The Lifts and Trails plugin displays the difficulty that matches the MTN Feed Value you set, so choosing the right value is how you control what guests see. If a trail's difficulty looks wrong on your website, open Configuration > Trail Ratings, edit that rating, and set its MTN Feed Value to the correct level.
Why is Trail Ratings a per-resort setting?
Trail ratings — their colour, line style, symbol and MTN Feed Value — belong to your resort. Editing a standard rating creates a copy for your resort only; other resorts are not affected. This means the difficulty shown on your website reflects your resort's own ratings. See Trail Ratings for how to customise, add or hide ratings.
