How do I create and edit an incident in the mobile app?

This article is for patrollers and first responders logging an incident from the Medic52 mobile app. You can create and complete an incident on your phone, in the field, even with no signal.

Before you begin

How do I create a new incident?

1. Open the Incidents tab.

2. Tap New incident (the + button).

3. The app creates a Draft and drops in your current GPS location as a starting point.

4. Fill in the form. Depending on your resort it may include text and number fields, choices, dates, a photo field, a signature field, and a location map you can adjust.

You don’t need to press Save. The app saves each field as you go and shows a status at the top — Saving, Saved, or Not saved — so you always know your work is captured.

How do I edit an incident?

Open the incident from the Incidents tab and change any field. As with creating, each change saves automatically. What you can see and edit depends on your role — patrollers typically see the open incidents assigned to them, while managers can browse a wider history.

What happens if I have no signal?

Everything works offline. A new incident shows as a Draft and your edits are stored on your phone until you’re back online, when the app syncs them to Medic52 automatically. See Does the Medic52 mobile app work offline?

If the same incident was changed elsewhere while you were offline, the app shows a banner asking whether to Keep mine or Use server, so nothing is overwritten by accident.

Frequently asked

How do I add a photo to an incident?

Use the photo field on the form to take a photo or choose one from your library. Capturing it in-app keeps it attached to the incident and out of your camera roll. See How do photos work in the Medic52 app?

How do I set the incident’s location?

A new incident starts at your current GPS position. Use the location field on the form to fine-tune the point on the map if needed.
