How does Medic52 back up my data?

As the keeper of some very important data to your business, we take the security, and integrity of your data very seriously on our servers. As such we make sure we back it up on a regular basis.

Here is how we do it:

Servers

Our servers are all backed up to a remote location during the small hours of every morning. The backup is protected by it’s own 64-bit key (like a 64 digit password), before we transfer it securely to the remote location.

We keep daily backups for 7 days, then 1 from each of the last 4 weeks, 1 from each of the last 3 months, 1 from each quarter of the last year, and then one from each of the last 5 years.

Databases

Our database servers run a backup of the database data once an hour and they are stored on the same machine so they are easily accessed in a short period of time as needed. Each day we securely transfer them to a remote location and store them in their encrypted form.

We keep hourly backups for 7 days, then 1 from each of the past 14 days, 1 from each of the last 4 weeks, 1 from each of the last 3 months, 1 from each quarter of the last year, and then one from each of the last 5 years.

Mobile Devices

Note that we cannot back up your mobile device, and so you should take steps to do this yourself. If you are connected to the internet whilst using the app, we send up information regularly to our servers. That means with any luck a good recent copy of it will already be in safe hands.
